When measuring a pitched roof from a top-down roof plan, you should apply a Pitch so TakeCost calculates the true roof surface area instead of the flat plan area.

To measure a pitched roof

  1. Select the Area tool.

  2. Trace the roof outline on your drawing.

  3. Open the measurement Properties.

  4. Select the Pitch tab (next to Area and Volume).

  5. Choose the correct Pitch / Slope (such as 4:12, 6:12, or 8:12).

  6. Click Apply.

TakeCost automatically converts the flat area into the actual sloped roof surface area.
