What is Box Mode?

Use Draw boxes with Area or Linear to measure rectangular spaces quickly.

Draw boxes creates a rectangular measurement with the Area or Linear tool.

Draw a rectangle

  1. Select Area for a surface, or Linear for a room’s wall perimeter.

  2. Turn on Draw boxes, or press B.

  3. Drag from one corner to the opposite corner.

  4. Click Finish or press Enter to complete the measurement.

  5. Name the measurement and adjust its Properties.

With Linear, all four sides are measured. With Area, the rectangle’s surface is measured.

The linear tutorial also shows dragging corner to corner without first switching on Draw boxes.

For irregular outlines, trace the points individually instead.
