What is Box Mode?

Box Mode allows you to quickly draw rectangular measurements when using the Area or Linear tool.

Instead of clicking multiple points to trace a shape, Box Mode lets you create a rectangle by selecting just two opposite corners.

How Box Mode works

When Box Mode is enabled:

  • Select the Area or Linear tool

  • Turn on Box Mode

  • Click the first corner of the area

  • Click the opposite corner

The rectangle is automatically created.

When should I use Box Mode?

Box Mode is ideal for:

  • Rectangular slabs or pads

  • Square or rectangular rooms

  • Straight runs with right angles

  • Any simple rectangular surface

When not to use Box Mode

  • Irregular or complex shapes

  • Angled or curved layouts

For these, turn off Box Mode and trace manually.

Pro Tip

Use Box Mode whenever possible, it’s faster and ensures clean, accurate measurements for simple shapes.
