After uploading your drawings, open the sheet you want to measure.
1. Check the scale
TakeCost may detect the scale from the plan. A yellow ruler means it is not checked yet. Click Check, then select both ends of a known dimension printed on the drawing. Compare the measured distance with that dimension and confirm when they match. The chip and ruler turn green.
If the scale is missing or incorrect, choose the correct scale from the list or use the scale-setting controls with a known dimension. Check it before measuring length or area. Count does not require a scale.
2. Choose a tool
Ruler: check a distance.
Linear: measure runs such as walls and edges.
Area: measure surfaces.
Count: count repeated items by hand, symbol, or text.
You can also open a wall type under On this sheet and click Measure.
3. Complete and name the measurement
Draw your line or area, then click Finish or press Enter. Name it in Properties and set any required wall height or other dimensions. Counts use Finish or Add depending on the method.
4. Review your work
Review named measurements in Quantities. Click a measurement to reopen Properties. Use Estimate for pricing and Bid to prepare your proposal.
