You can perform takeoffs from survey drawings or plan views, as long as the file can be properly scaled.

Steps to perform takeoffs

  1. Upload your drawing
    Upload your survey or plan view file into TakeCost.

  2. Set or verify the scale

    • Use Auto Scale if detected

    • Or manually set the scale using a known dimension

    • Validate to ensure accuracy

  3. Begin your takeoff
    Once scaled, you can:

    • Measure areas (e.g., lots, slabs, landscaping)

    • Use linear tools for edges, boundaries, or runs

    • Apply multiple measurements (overlays) to the same drawing

    • Combine quantities into assemblies for estimating

Current limitations

  • Takeoffs from survey or plan views are manual

  • AI tools currently apply to exterior elevations only

  • Automation for plan-based takeoffs is coming in future updates
